Chroma's 61700 series programmable AC generator delivers 3-phase, pure AC power in a 5-wire configuration. Unlike conventional three-phase AC generators, the series includes low power rating models with very low cost. Users can program voltage and frequency and measure critical output characteristics on the LCD display. The current generators provide the correct solution for simulating all types of input conditions of units under test for use in research and development and quality assurance. They are also suitable for commercial sector applications, ranging from laboratory test execution to mass production testing.
The 61700 series models provide output voltage ranging from 0 to 300 Vac and can be individually configured for each phase. In addition, users can set the phase angle from 0° to 360°. These functions make the 61700 series devices capable of simulating unbalanced three-phase currents. Because of the wide range of output frequencies, from 15 to 1,200 Hz, the products are suitable for applications in the avionics, marine and military sectors. The mode with AC + DC extends the output function to simulate abnormal situations when the line contains DC offsets.
The 61700 series products make use of state-of-the-art pulse-width modulation technology, so they can generate very clean AC outputs with a typical distortion of less than 0.3 percent. Thanks to a power factor correction circuit, the 61700 series products are marked by higher efficiency and provide more output power.
With advanced digital signal processing technology, the 61700 series devices offer accuracy and high-speed measurements such as those of RMS voltage, RMS current, real power, power factor, current crest factor, etc.
The 61700 series is distinguished by an optional transient voltage output function. The function includes LIST, PULSE, GRADE and INTERARM modes. Users can easily program the waveform variant for immunity testing. The 61700 series devices can also be controlled by an effective and intuitive software module, called Softpanel, via the GPIB or RS-232 interface. In addition to this, Softpanel includes a Waveform Editor capable of modifying harmonic components up to the fortieth order. Thus the 61700 series products possess the function of emitting distorted waveforms as users desire.
The self-diagnostic routine and protection from overpower, overcurrent, overvoltage, overtemperature, and fan failures of the 61700 series models ensure quality and reliability even in the most demanding engineering test environments and production line applications.
