The GDM-500 series portable multimeter is a compact, high-accuracy, battery-powered multimeter designed to meet the application requirements of service technicians. The design of the GDM-500 series follows some features typical of mobile devices : automatic power off to preserve battery life, a large backlit display for a crisp view, a rotary and push-button selector for ease of use, and NCV (non-contact voltage detection) function for outdoor use.

The basic functions of the series match the extended functionality of benchtop multimeters: fuse-protected current input, true rms for accurate AC measurements, audible/visual overload alarm, automatic measurement, duty cycle and relative mode.
